Cy Ball, our husband and father, died in his sleep early on April 21, 2021. He was 73 years old.
Less than two weeks before his death, he underwent an urgent operation to replace the tricuspid valve in his heart, which had been damaged as a result of his cancer. Although his recovery was proceeding slowly, he was approaching rehabilitation with characteristic determination.
Cy was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, April 28th. Details (along with an obituary) can be found here.
Cy asked that this website be maintained as long as the information it contains might be of use to other NETs patients.
On behalf of Cy, and in his memory: may we all have the best possible outcomes.
-Cy’s family
Very sorry. Huge inspiration to us all.
Cy was the first to give me hope through his sharing of knowledge . He was certainly a courageous leader!
I will miss him! Thoughts and prayers for you, his friends and family!
From all of us at the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation, we extend our deepest sympathies to Cy’s family and friends and to the members of the Colorado NETs Support Group. Over the years we have guided many NET patients and loved ones to speak with Cy; he has been a wonderful leader in the NET community.
Denver and the mountain west area have lost a great friend and leader. I believe that cancer support groups are a great value to cancer patients. Cy’s leadership, his honest and straightforward writings and his immense humanity helped many Neuroendocrine patients and indeed their caregivers as well. He made the long and uneven journey a bit easier for many of us.
While not a music fan myself, I passed on Cy’s postings to my son who always commented on Cy’s creativity and originality. He was a wonder.
Thank you for this post. I was always amazed by the depth of his knowledge. I believe he found peace at the end of his life. Thanks to all that were a part of his life. I will miss him
I am so sorry for the loss of Cy. He was an amazing person and helped many others through his blog. I have been following him for at least 8 – 9 years. He was always there for encouraging others to face physical problems with amazing courage while always analyzing the latest treatments for Carcinoid Cancer. He did this while traveling, playing music, encouraging others and still living life to its fullest. We will all miss his updates and his beautiful soul! All my sincere condolences to your family!
I’m so sorry for your loss, your dads music and sense of humor will be missed
